Review: Les Becker

February 14th, 2008 · 8 Comments

Today’s website review is of Les Becker.com a site written by a Canadian who muses on her life, her landlord and her random online friends. That’s it.

Take Me Away: The subtitle of this site is “Where the Walls are Soft” and I agree. Reading this site makes me want to be committed. It’s mind numbing mush. I don’t care about you and I don’t care about your stupid life. There’s absolutely nothing of interest or importance to me on this site. Remember when blogs started people would write “Hey, my cat just sat inside my tuba. It’s the cutest thing ever!” and that would be a blog entry for the day? Maybe it would be 300 words on your cat and how it has a name and personality and you totally have conversations with your cat. But ultimately what happened is your cat sat in a tuba and you felt the need to tell the whole world. This is exactly what happens in this blog. Fine, the cat didn’t sit in the tuba, it simply looked at her. You’re alone and you have a cat, how did this become the topic for a blog?

Ruby Ruby Ruby Ruby So-Ho: Apparently the most “popular” thing on this blog is stories of this chick’s landlord Ruby who’s an old lady who says things typical to old ladies (you can’t trust the internets). She also tells stories that start with “Back in aught seven…”OMG, you should totally make that into a book! I’m kidding, but apparently some people aren’t. They like this shit. Maybe it’s because they’re Canadian and easily impressed. Old people are good at one thing, dying. Let’s leave it that way and not go turning their crazy ramblings into blog posts.

Megachx and RobotCaq Are Going Steady!: This girl is pissing me off on all seven fronts. She gives no information on who she is (you know, like an age or what she really does for a living, create an about page already), she’s Canadian and she has a bunch of blog friends who all go by their handles. Since when is YettiBack22 a proper name? Does this girl even know her “friends” real names? Probably not.

I’d like to issue a friendly public service notice to the writer of this blog: No one cares. No one reading your site cares about you, your life, your landlord or your stupid friends that you only have on the internet. You don’t need a website, you need a journal. One with a lock and key so there’s no chance of me reading it by accident. Going on for paragraphs about shit no one cares about doesn’t make you a “writer,” it makes you annoying.

Hmmmm. Thanks? (It’s okay - I have band-aids for the bleeding)

I’m confused though… I’m not alone, and no where in my blog does it say that - I have a family (and two cats- :-) ), and the several things I do to earn a living are discussed throughout my entries ( along with my age and the fact that I’ve just finished school).

I understand that you don’t like to read about old people or cats, but you seem to have latched onto just those two subjects and not touched on any others.

How was the layout? Did you like, were indifferent to , or barf over the colour scheme (oops sorry about the spelling - I’m Canadian.)?

I’ve recently started advertising - I know this has been a bone of contention with you on other blogs, so I was waiting expectantly for that bit - but… nothing. Not *enough* ads, maybe?

Anyway, thanks for the “review”. I’ll shut up now and go play my tuba, assuming I can remove the cat.
